Recent Oscar winner Jared Leto is in negotiations to replace Will Smith in the blockbuster, Brilliance.
According to THR, the flick is set in a world where people have extraordinary abilities and are referred to as 'Brilliants'. Leto would play one such chap, who also happens to be a detective. Smith pulled out because of a scheduling conflict and Leto, while not locked yet, is currently in advanced negotiations to replace him.
The film will be directed by Julius Onah, who, judging by his IMDB page, would make his mainstream helming debut with the project.
Legendary Pictures are behind Brilliance and they don't do low key, having most recently produced Godzilla and 300: Rise of an Empire.
Leto won his Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club having previously taken several years off from acting to concentrate on his band, 30 Seconds to Mars.
