The winding history of Spider-Man at the movies often speeds up over Andrew Garfield's tenure, and it's not hard to see why.
For one, neither of the movies were terribly good, they were hurriedly rebooted with Tom Holland, and most pointedly, none of the villains were especially memorable. Sure, Dane DeHaan is a good actor, but seeing as how James Franco was so embedded in people's minds as Harry Osborn, it wasn't going to work.
Likewise, Jamie Foxx as Electro never felt particularly like a good fit. But, for whatever reason, it appears like they're giving another jolt of life - electricity puns! - in the role. THR is reporting that Foxx has signed up for the as-yet-untitled third 'Spider-Man' movie starring Tom Holland.
There's been a bit of crossover from previous 'Spider-Man' reboots already, namely in the great JK Simmons returning as J. Jonah Jameson, now clearly aping Alex Jones from InfoWars with his DailyBugle.com podcast.
Aside from Foxx's casting, pretty much everyone else is set to return. Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker, while Zendaya is returning as MJ, along with Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Michael Keaton as Vulture.
So far, Marvel and Sony have the third 'Spider-Man' movie slated for November 5th, 2021, but given all that's going on in the world, you can probably expect that date to change in the near future.
