After James Gunn's controversial exit from the House of Mouse earlier this year, there's been plenty of speculation as to what he'd do next.
As it turns out, Gunn has since been hired to write 'Suicide Squad 2' for Warner Bros., but his next movie as a producer now has a trailer. 'BrightBurn' basically takes the alien-falling-to-Earth-with-superpowers thing - but makes it into a horror.
In other words, you've got a super-powered child running around who's clearly not adjusting to life on Earth and has all kinds of crazy powers - exactly the kind of thing Marvel or Disney wouldn't make in a hundred years.
It's telling that this is James Gunn's first movie - albeit as a producer, not as a director - after exiting 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3'. It's clearly a signal of intent for his career going forward, and the fact that the trailer itself looks like 'Man of Steel' says a lot. Whether it all ends up working or not is anyone's guess.
'BrightBurn' hits Irish cinemas on May 24th, 2019.
