Arnie was already confirmed and if James Cameron is to be believed, original star Linda Hamilton will be joining him in the upcoming reboot of the 'Terminator' franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron made the announcement at a private event celebrating the franchise, saying, "As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return."
"There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys," he added, "but there isn’t an example of that for women."
Details on the reboot are scarce but Cameron is set to write the script and produce and is teaming up with 'Deadpool' director Tim Miller on the film which is set to be a direct sequel to 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day', and Cameron is also looking to bring a new Sarah Connor-style character into the franchise.
"We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story," Cameron said. "We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we'll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it."
Hopefully this return to the roots of the franchise will make us forget all about the messes that were 'Rise of the Machines', 'Salvation' and 'Genisys', but we're not holding our breath.
