It It had been assumed for quite some time that Ben Affleck's Batman would get his own standalone movie with the rumour being that the star would also call the shots behind the camera.
As far back as last year's Comic Con there were whispers that Affleck had been working on a script with DC Comics writer Geoff Johns.
Now Warner Bros. have gone ahead and made it official by confirming that such a plan is in place at it's recent CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas.
What the movie will entail we don't know. It's possible that Batman and Jared Leto's Joker might square off after the events of Suicide Squad. Or perhaps it will be a prequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and fill us in on what happened to the Bat family that made Bruce Wayne so especially moody in Batman v Superman.
There's no official release date announced but there are untitled projects from Warner Bros. flagged to be released on October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019, so it's possible it could fill one of those slots.
