We'd take this one with a pinch of salt, folks.
It looks like Martin Scorsese is returning to the genre that made his name - namely, boxing films about damaged individuals.
According to one Jamie Foxx, the veteran director is looking to make a biopic about 'Iron' Mike Tyson, with Jamie Foxx involved in some shape or form.
It's not yet known if Foxx will play the lead as Tyson himself, or indeed if Tyson will play himself. That'd be too meta.
Foxx recently appeared on a radio talkshow in the US and discussed, amongst other things, his desire to a biopic made about the controversial boxer.
"I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson. So I'm going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I'm on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time."
Foxx went on, saying that Scorsese will be at the helm and that this is the first boxing film he will have done since Raging Bull.
Initial thoughts? We'd like to see a Mike Tyson film, absolutely. He's been a towering figure in the world of boxing and his fall from grace would make for a very interesting story.
That being said, it feels like Martin Scorsese is going back to the well, plus we can't really see Foxx as Tyson. He's done him in his stand-up routine, sure, but as an actual performance? We doubt it.
Granted, we can't honestly think of anyone who'd be better - they'll probably need to find some unknown and make a star out of him.
