Irish director John Moore is developing a big screen version of the American reality show, Ice Road Truckers, according to Deadline via Empire.

The series is pretty much what the title says; some hard bastard truck drivers navigate seriously heavy trucks over the icy roads and whatnot of North America. It's an obviously very dangerous job, but these dudes are built for such work, and generally just get on with it. Fox have bought the rights to the show, and Moore has helmed all of his films for them - Max Payne being the last one. For his part the Dundalk man said it would be "very much a tough guy movie. Here's a bunch of characters who tackle problems by getting in there and getting things done. We'll turn it into a mission movie that harkens back to Towering Inferno, Jaws, or The Guns of Navarone . You got a problem, go solve it." Or call The A-Team... just sayin'.

Moore is a director with a lot of style, and a solid grasp of action - there just wasn't enough of it in 'Payne'. I'd like to see him make a movie completely the way he wants to, as some of his efforts pang of studio interference. This could be a lot of fun if it does get made; Russell Crowe as the lead?
