Well it's no surprise really, Man of Steel has soared right to the top of the Irish cinema box office, bringing in €1.29M on its opening weekend. Recession? What recession; clearly, we enjoy a good date night at the movies today in the very same way we did back when that Celtic Tiger was roaring its smug little head off.
What you may not have realised though is that this figure marks the biggest opening weekend of the year so far. No biggie! The announcement was made today by Josh Berger, President and Managing Director, Warner Bros. UK and Ireland.
"We're thrilled at the tremendous response we've seen from audiences to Zack Snyder's exciting new vision of the iconic Super Hero," said Berger. "Man of Steel has proven to be the must-see film of the summer." Take THAT Iron Man! (Yes, I still have a chip on my shoulder because Robert Downey Jr pulled out of my interview at the last minute. Boo you whore.)
Try not to drool, like me.
