Jaws... but with a bull.
There's a new short film on the way in 2018 that is lining itself up to be an Irish version of Jaws with a bit of Jurassic Park thrown in. The film, which is written and directed by Brian Folan, was a winner of this year's Film Offaly bursary award and is called Red Rag.
It's a thriller set in rural Ireland that tells the story of a woman who flees an abusive relationship only to get trapped in her car by a huge bull. It explores themes of domestic violence and features a great female central hero.
The film has received funding from Film Offaly and private investment but it's not enough to make it so they are using crowdfunding to raise the extra money needed.
If you would like to contribute, or even get involved, you can go the fundit page or reach out to the filmmakers through the Facebook page. The team would love to hear from you.
The shoot is planned for February 2018 and post-production is taking place shortly afterwards. The film is aimed to be completed by the end of May 2018.
