It's not even out yet, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is riding a huge wave of good will on the fact that we know it'll have an excellent and ear-wormy soundtrack that'll likely include Fleetwood Mac and The Sweet, Chris Pratt throwing himself around the screen like a young Harrison Ford, and it's got Kurt Russell's facial hair.

Really, what more do you want from a film? More to the point, why wouldn't you want more of that? That's certainly the feeling from director James Gunn, who confirmed in an interview with Complex that a third Guardians of the Galaxy movie is on the way. "I’m trying to figure out what I want to do really, that’s all it is. I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing."

"You know, I’m going to make another big movie; is it the Guardians or something else? I’m just going to figure it out over the next couple of weeks," explained Gunn. Did that sound non-committal to you? It sure did to us. Evidently, the arduous process of directing a major blockbuster film, editing it, supervising the huge amount of VFX work and facing down the barrel of a long promotion tour is going to make anyway balk at the prospect of going through that again.

Just look at the way Daniel Craig is back-pedalling all his comments about Bond when asked during the press tour for Spectre, as an example. In any event, we can rest assured that whether or not Gunn is involved, Star-Lord, Baby Groot, Drax, Gamora and Rocket are getting a third volume.
