Idris Elba is fighting for survival in the heart-pounding trailer for upcoming action-horror film 'Beast'.
Elba plays Dr. Nate Daniels, a recently widowed husband who returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with their daughters to a game reserve managed by Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley), an old family friend and wildlife biologist.
But what begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them.
The start of the trailer give the sense that this is a loving, family-friendly movie about reconnection and coming together during a time of grief. But things soon take a turn for the worse when the family are attacked by a rogue lion intent on killing any human it sees.
The two daughters, Meredith and Norah, are played by Iyana Halley ('This is Us'), and Leah Sava Jeffries ('Empire').
Baltasar Kormákur ('Everest') directs 'Beast'. Ryan Engle ('Rampage') penned the screenplay from an original story by Jaime Primak Sullivan. Sullivan serves as executive producer on the film alongside Bernard Bellew. Universal Pictures produced the film.
Idris Elba is also set to star in George Miller's directorial return 'Three Thousand Years of Longing' alongside Tilda Swinton. He will also reprise his role as DCI John Luther in the 'Luther' movie.
