20th Century Fox's third movie in the Ice Age series Dawn of the Dinosaurs surpassed Pixar's Finding Nemo over the last weekend to become the highest grossing animated film of all time outside of the US, taking in a cumulative of over $550 million. This has beaten the record set six years ago by Pixar's Nemo. The key to this is that Family films being released in 3-D are doing big business in Europe with cinemagoers more than happy to shell out the extra coin for a 3-D ticket. Pixar's latest release, Up, has just begun its run in Europe so time will tell if it will have the legs to catch up to Ice Age 3.
