Recent news that Bradley Cooper is no longer going to star in Natalie Portman's film Jane Got A Gun suggests Portman's project is on a downward spiral as a whole host of other A-listers have disassociated themselves from the film, such as Michael Fassbender and Jude Law.
The decision came after filming for his current film American Hustle was delayed due to the Boston bombings, according to Deadline. Other Hollywood heavy weights such as Jake Gyllenhall, Tobey Maguire, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hiddleston are possible replacements.
All of this casting drama begs the bigger question, how did Cooper become such a big name out of nowhere? Before 2009's The Hangover, could anyone other than advertising casting directors pick him out of a lineup? Probably not. Since then he has starred in a string of big budget films such as Limitless, Hit and Run, The Hangover II, Silver Linings Playbook and The Place Beyond the Pines. He has been romantically linked to everyone from Queen Diva Jennifer Lopez to Jennifer Lawrence, Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Aniston (who, to be fair, everyone has been tied to).
Sure he's a looker with a serious set of wolf eyes but how exactly did he make the big leap? Let's just hope it wasn't a case of the casting couch payments. After all, his surname may remind you of a car but that doesn't mean everyone's had a ride. In any case, he has proved himself worthy with his latest films (his dreadlocked appearance in Hit and Run aside). Here's to the Cooper!
