Harry Styles stars as a closeted gay cop in the new teaser trailer for Prime Video's 'My Policeman'.
The short trailer features Styles as Tom Burgess, a policeman in the 1950s. It features a monologue by Burgess, saying , "you can sense the waves, you know how strong they are, like swimming in rough surf. You feel they could crush you or take you under. You just have to let it take hold of you."
Based on the 2012 Bethan Roberts novel by the same name, the film follows Burgeess as he finds himself entangled in a complex love triangle with museum curator Patrick Hazlewood (David Dawson) and his wife Marion Taylor (Emma Corrin).
Since homosexuality is outlawed in 50's Britain, Burgess hides his sexuality but his affair with Hazlewood leads to bubbling tensions and events that will change their lives forever.
Not seen in the teaser are Rupert Everett, Gina McKee and Linus Roache, who play older versions of the three main characters. The film jumps between the two time periods of the 1950's and 1990's. In the 90's Patrick returns to the lives of Tom and Marion, upending their fragile relationship.
The film is directed by Michael Grandage. Producers are Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robbie Rogers, Cora Palfrey and Philip Herd. Grandage, Michael Riley McGrath and Caroline Levy serve as executive producers.
