Like, we're taking somewhere in the region of 76 times more than new stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega... Well, he is Han Solo. And he originally did the role in 1977 for about €9,500 so he was due a raise.

Reports are suggesting that the 73-year-old movie legend is set to earn "0.5 per cent share of the film’s gross earnings" on top of the €23 million flat fee he got for appearing in the movie. That translates as potential earnings of €31.5million.

Meanwhile, Ridley and Boyega were reportedly paid a flat fee of €411,000. On the upside, the pair are now household names, part of movie legend, and are also set to earn more once the film nets $1billion.

A Disney source, speaking via The Mail on Sunday, said: ‘Harrison is the key to making this movie work. He's the link between the old generation and the new. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were good to get, but the film could have lived without them. You couldn't make it without Harrison Ford. Daisy’s a virtual unknown, and this is a career-making role, so she’d probably have been willing to take it for free - and Disney knew it... She has been signed to a multi-picture deal with pre-set bumps in her salary that rise substantially with each movie. That doesn’t guarantee she’ll be in subsequent films, but it gives the studio peace of mind to know she’s contractually obliged if they want her again."
