I have never been an advocate of remaking horror films, especially not cult classics. But Rob Zombie pretty much ruined Halloween already with his two god awful films, so Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes might as well have a bash as well...
According to Bloodydisgusting.com, the film was due to go forward with Drive Angry/My Bloody Valentine team Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier, who were planning to shoot in 3D. That was fine with me; Lussier was an editor before he started helming, and his work with Wes Craven on the Scream series was a huge part of what made those movies work. Also, 'Angry' and 'Valentine' are a lot of fun, and knew exactly what they were.
We'll get another remake at some point, for sure, just hopefully 'Dunes' have learnt their lesson with directors. There are some great music video and ad helmers, but they need to be fans of the genre and ideally the film, not just shooters for hire who only deliver the aesthetics.
