Lots of news coming out of San Diego ComicCon, but here's two pieces of news we're very excited about.
First up, Marvel's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy - due out in cinemas next week - is to get a sequel in 2017. That's right, the film hasn't opened ANYWHERE and already it's getting a sequel. Director James Gunn has signed on to write and direct the follow-up to what we think could be the summer blockbuster of 2014.
Furthermore, it's been announced that King Kong is due to get a prequel of sorts. Skull Island - both the name of the film and where it'll be set - focuses on the mysterious island that Kong made his home. A small teaser for the film was shown, however reactions were mixed.
This may have been because fans were expecting footage from the upcoming Jurassic World film. Speaking of giant monsters, Godzilla is due for a sequel and original director Gareth Edwards has signed on to direct it. He's currently working on a little sci-fi film called the Star Wars spin-off film.
As for Godzilla 2, classic monsters such as Mothra and King Ghidorah are confirmed to feature in the film. Early speculation suggests that the sequel could be set in the 1960's, what with the teaser shown at ComicCon featuring audio from a speech by JFK and having a very retro feel to it all.
