The official trailer for 'Gretel & Hansel' has arrived and it's certainly a dark 'Carrie'-esque take on the classic fairytale. (we're also getting vibes of Roger Eggers' 'The Witch' from the trailer)
Sophia Lillis, best-known for playing Beverly in 'It' and 'It: Chapter Two' plays Gretel. Newcomer Sam Leakey plays Hansel.
The Brothers Grimm adaptation sees the brother and sister venture into the woods to find food and work to support their parents. Then they come across a witch (Alice Krige - 'Star Trek', 'Chariots of Fire', 'A Christmas Prince') and spooky stuff starts to happen.
Osgood Perkins ('The Blackcoat’s Daughter', 'I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House') directs.
The movie was shot in Dublin, Ireland.
It's set to hit US cinemas on January 31st with no Irish release date confirmed just yet.
