It's barely in the cinema a week but Paramount has already set the ball rolling on a second sequel for G. I Joe. G.I Joe Retaliation had a very strong opening weekend, making it the second highest grossing film on an Easter weekend of all time in the US.
Variety reports that opening to $132 million globally, which was the budget for the film, has convinced Paramount that a third film is financially viable. The film opened on Friday here after being delayed until 3D effects could be added in post production. Rumours were also circulating that they had delayed it in order to shoot more scenes with Magic Mike star Channing Tatum: Great idea if you ask me!
It still remains to be seen if Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson will return for the third film, but director John M. Chu has already spoken of his desire to make a another G.I Joe movie. "You know, it would be an honour [to do it], if fans went out to see it [this time]. And man I'd love to [make another one]. We have a lot of foundation with the characters here, so it would be really fun to take to the next level", he said.
