It’s looking likely, despite the recent passing of Harold Ramis and the non-involvement of Bill Murray, that Ghostbusters 3 will still move forward.
Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two films, and is returning to helm a proposed third, met with Sony bosses yesterday to talk about how they’re going to reshape the script - which was penned by veterans of The US Office, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.
Murray has refused to come back for a long time, despite appearing in more and more productions over the past few years, but rumours still persisted that the film was happening - at one point as a reboot with Seth Rogen and the Judd Apatow crew (who all nixed it).
THR say that Ramis’ involvement would have been at a minimum anyway, but his estate is due a percentage of whatever profits the film makes, which is the same deal Dan Ackroyd, Murray and Reitman apparently have.
The film is still on course to begin shooting this year, however a bad idea that might seem with everything that’s gone on.
