Pete Segal has emerged as the frontrunner to direct Little Fockers, contradicting previous reports that Role Models helmer David Wain would be the one to call the shots on the star-studded sequel. Segal was due to direct a sequel to Get Smart, but Steve Carrell has instead chosen to star opposite Tina Fey in the romantic comedy Date Night, and will star in a sequel to the mediocre, but financially stellar comedy at a later date. No deal has been finalised for Segal to direct, but Variety are reporting that he is currently the man that Universal are leaning towards. Still think they should take a punt on Wain, even if Segal is the "safe" option.
