Relatively unknown German actress Antje Traue has been cast as a villainess named Faora in the Superman reboot Man of Steel, reports Variety.
Henry Cavill will play Superman and Clark Kent, while Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are both set as his adoptive parents, Ma and Pa Kent. Traue has previously appeared in the momentarily decent sci-fi flick, Pandorum and came close to bagging the lead female part in The Rite that went to Alice Braga. Her character Faora is a Kryptonian serial killer in the comics, who targeted only men and was sentenced to the Phantom Zone for three centuries where she survived the destruction of Krypton. She also knew a special martial art that made her an extremely dangerous foe for Superman to face in hand-to-hand combat.
Zack Snyder is directing the film that will also see Amy Adams play Lois Lane and Michael Shannon portray General Zod.
