John Carpenter is a director who needs no introduction.

As well as defining the sci-fi horror and slasher subgenres with 1978's Hallowe'en and 1982's The Thing, he also directed such touchstones as Assault On Precinct 13, Escape From New York, Starman and Big Trouble In Little China. We spoke to Carpenter earlier this year and one of the points we talked about was his second career as a musician.

Carpenter's scored most if not all his films down through the years, beginning with Dark Star and Assault On Precinct 13 and all the way up to the likes of Escape From L.A. and Vampires. With that huge discography to play with, it's no wonder Carpenter's taken a band out on tour to play his hits for audiences around the world.

Next Tuesday, October 25th, John Carpenter will play a live retrospective of his soundtracks in Vicar Street and there's a few tickets remaining. It all kicks off at 7PM and we'll be right down at the front row. Tickets are €55 from Ticketmaster.ie and are on sale now.
