The Big Daddy of award ceremonies has revealed its nominations, and just like the BAFTAs, it's a good year for the Irish at the Academy Awards.
As expected, Martin McDonagh's 'The Banshees of Inisherin' has been nominated for multiple awards, including Best Original Screenplay as well as in multiple technical categories, including Best Editing.
Martin McDonagh is also nominated for Best Director, while 'Banshees' will go up against 'The Fabelmans', 'All Quiet on the Western Front', 'Avatar: The Way of Water', 'Elvis', 'Tar', 'Top Gun: Maverick', 'Triangle of Sadness', 'Women Talking' and 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' for Best Picture.
Colin Farrell is nominated for Best Actor, while his co-stars Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan have also been nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Kerry Condon also gets a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, while Paul Mescal has been nominated for Best Actor for his leading role in 'Aftersun'.
Happily, Irish language feature 'An Cailin Ciuin/The Quiet Girl' has also been nominated Best International Feature, while Northern Irish short 'An Irish Goodbye' is also nominated for Best Short Film.
Elsewhere, 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' picked up multiple awards, as did 'All Quiet on the Western Front', 'Avatar: The Way of Water' and 'Elvis'.
The Academy Awards take place on March 13th at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
