Although two official statements have been put out by both Fox and BBC about Singer's "unexpected unavailability," insiders on the set say the situation is more dire than people realise.
According to insiders who've spoken to THR, director Bryan Singer is routinely turning up on set late for the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. In one instance, a cinematographer had to step in and direct a scene due to Singer being a no-show.
Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Singer has gone missing from the set for three days and that Fox are having "discreet discussions" with other directors to complete filming and oversee post-production.
This isn't the first time that Singer has gone missing from the set of a film. On both X-Men: Apocalypse and Superman Returns, Singer was known to disappear for days at a time during production and reappear at random to resume control. Moreover, Uproxx reports that Singer and Rami Malek - who plays lead singer Freddie Mercury - have repeatedly clashed on set.
Bohemian Rhapsody is still set for a December 28th, 2018 release date in Ireland, though that may change if Singer doesn't return to the set or is replaced.
