James Franco will star in Danny Boyle's first film after winning an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours.
Flick is based on the true story of Aron Ralston, who got his arm caught in a boulder whilst rock climbing in Utah on his sweeney. Stuck there for 127 hours, he had to amputate his own right arm, using a pen knife, to survive, and then scale a 60 foot wall, before flagging down a family and finally being airlifted to safety. Talk about an inspirational story...
Franco has hilariously joined the cast of US daytime soap, General Hospital, which is like Colin Farrell joining Fair City. Apparently it's "performance art" but it seems more like a piss-take to me. This is a great role for him, though; I'm a big fan of his last few performances and Your Highness, which was shot in Belfast, sounds like it could be blast. Shooting on 127 Hours is slated to begin in March, with Simon Beaufoy again on scripting duties.
