For those of you shivering at your desks, dreaming of having a tan, cosying up to someone like Josh Duhamel, while the wind blows in your hair at the beach, then here's a few minutes of Nicholas Sparks style escapism.
Yes, then man behind The Notebook, The Vow, The Last Song and a whole host of other chick-flick book-to-film adaptations is back with yet another hormone infused offering. This time it's Safe Haven starring the aforementioned (ridonkulously attractive) Josh Duhamel. We're still quite pissed that Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas managed to pull him. Punching above her weight there, would you agree? Maybe I'm just bitter, yep, that's definitely it. But look at him, that cheekbone/jaw definition has to be the work of angels.
Anyhoo, I'm half way through reading the book - it's research y'see; I'm interviewing Duhamel, Sparks and newcomer Julianne Hough (she was in Rock of Ages too) for this movie very soon. So it's imperative that I'm abreast of the book upon which the movie is based. Imperative. Though many are quick to slam Sparks for his somewhat predictable fare, I must admit I do enjoy it. The long, lingering moments, the dramatic, traumatic back stories of the respective characters and the drawn out, mounting tension and romantic sparks that almost fly off the page by the time our two protagonists finally get it ON. What's not to love? Sure, it's not going to win an Oscar, and the book won't win itself a Man Booker Prize, but sometimes you just want a little fluff.
