From the studio that brought you the adorable Despicable Me and the (let’s face it, despicable) Minions, The Secret Life of Pets has been a surprising hit, having made an impressive $400 million at the worldwide box office.
The film also set a record for best U.S. opening weekend for an original film, animated or live action.
The Secret Life of Pets follows a number of pets – dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, rabbits, pigs, you name it – living in New York who go in search of their friend Max (Louis CK) when he goes missing.
The cast includes Ellie Kemper, Kevin Hart, Lake Bell Jenny Slate and Eric Stonestreet.
There is no confirmation on which characters will return to the franchise yet but the director and writer from the first film, Chris Renaud and Brian Lynch, will be back to respectively direct and write the follow-up.
The release date is scheduled for July 13, 2018. Let us know what you think of the news.
