The Irish connection to Star Wars just got a bit stronger last night as Variety confirmed that Fair City actor Ian Kenny is set to join the cast of the as-yet untitled Han Solo movie.
There's no details as to what role Kenny will play in the film, but he'll be joining the likes of Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Donald Glover, Alden Ehrenreich and Emilia Clarke. Kenny also appeared in and is likely best known to international audiences from Sing Street, where he played school bully Barry.
Kenny isn't the only Irish actor to turn up in Star Wars down through the years. Just recently, The Fall's Valene Kane played Jyn Erso's mother in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Commitments' Bronagh Gallagher was a pilot in Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
The untitled Han Solo movie will follow Harrison Ford's famous character from the ages of 18 to 24 and how he came to be the captain of the Millennium Falcon and met a young Lando Calrissian - played here by Donald Glover - and the Wookiee Chewbacca.
Filming is currently underway and will hit Irish cinemas in May 2018.
