As we reported and opined upon a few days ago, the trailer for the all-new Ghostbusters is now officially the most disliked trailer in YouTube history.

The trailer was so bad, fans even took to re-editing the trailer to make it funnier. Now, it's gone a step further with Melissa McCarthy adding her own two cents to the debacle. During a recent interview, McCarthy described how the trailer basically confused people as to whether or not the new Ghostbusters was a reboot or a sequel.

"Believe me, the question was asked. I think it's very confusing," said McCarthy. She went on, saying that her Ghostbusters is "a reboot, not a remake. I know it's weird that they say (in the trailer) "30 years ago," but in this movie it's like the first one didn't happen."

This has already been evidenced by the fact that CinemaCon footage revealed Dan Aykroyd's cameo as a taxi driver, not as Dr. Raymond Stantz. What's more, Ernie Hudson was spotted on set talking to Leslie Jones and, from what we could tell, he wasn't wear any kind of overt Ghostbusters garb. That, in turn, tells us that he's not Winston Zedmore in this continuity.

You've got to think that this is going to annoy the hardcore fans of Ghostbusters even more; especially those who weren't exactly down with the whole female Ghostbusters thing either. At this stage, it's anyone's guess how Ghostbusters will turn out.

There's been that much controversy and negative reaction to the film that lowered expectations might just save it. For us, we're cautiously optimistic. We saw some of the CinemaCon footage recently and it looked a lot more funny than the trailers would you have think.

Ghostbusters is due to land in Irish cinemas on July 15th of this year.
