Given how Justice League was something of a marked failure for Warner Bros., and the endless rumours that the studio is looking to jettison the whole thing in favour of something else, it looks like there might be life yet in the DC Extended Universe.
According to a report by Batman-News, early test screenings for Aquaman have taken place and the word is good. According to their source, the film is being compared to Wonder Woman in terms of tone, and the film's main villain Orm - played by office favourite Patrick Wilson - was singled out for praise.
As well as this, Amber Heard - who plays Aquaman's love interest, Hera - has been described as something closer to a co-lead than just a plot point. The film's director, James Wan, has some flourishes of horror - which makes sense considering this is the guy behind The Conjuring, Insidious and Saw.
Another report, this one from MeetTheMoviePress, said the film played like an Indiana Jones movie, and that the film was something of a palette cleanser in the wake of Zack Snyder's take on the series.
The film doesn't arrive in Irish cinemas until the end of the year - December 21st, to be precise - so there's a good chance the version shown now may be totally different from what we end up seeing, but if this positive this far out from release, it looks like they may have a much-needed win on their hands.
