The cast of Django Unchained were out in force last night for the film's UK premiere in London's Leicester Square. Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L Jackson and Kerry Washington dazzled on the red carpet as fans flocked to central London to get in on the action.
Django tells the tale of, errr, Django, a slave turned bounty hunter who teams up with Christoph Waltz to save his wife, Broomhilda (Washington), from the clutches of evil slave owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). In traditional Tarantino style there's plenty of violence involved, but you don't want to be harping on to Quentin about that now. We all know Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy learned that the hard way.
In fairness to Tarantino, when he was first asked about his interest in making violent movies he was polite enough: "Judd Apatow doesn't get asked why he makes comedies", he replied. Then Krishnan decided he'd delve a bit deeper, asking Tarantino if he thought there was any link between violence in movies and in real life. He got a pretty straight answer to that one.
"It's none of your damn business what I think about that," said Tarantino "I'm saying no… If anyone cares what I have to say about it, they can Google me. Things just became increasingly awkward from that point on, with Quentin dropping some humdingers including "I'm shutting your butt down!" and I'm here to sell my movie! This is a commercial for the movie, make no mistake."
What did you make of Tarantino's outbursts? Did Krishnan push things to far? Or does Quentin need to reel it in?
