Harrison Ford has had an incredible run at the box-office over the years, with the mammoth success of the last Star Wars film the cherry on top.
But he's also had problems with injuries, both off and on set. There was the plane crash he survived and the on-set injury he suffered while on the Star Wars set in London.
Ford was walking onto the Millennium Falcon at Pinewood Studios when the door shut on his leg, crushing it. Had the emergency button not been pushed, it would've done horrific damage. His leg was still broken, but after being airlifted to hospital for surgery on his leg and a deep cut on his hand, he healed up and completed the production - which went on to become one of the most successful films of all time.
The report does give details of the accident, and it sounds like he had a lucky escape. The door was not supposed to be live on set, and when Ford walked through it acted like a ‘blunt guillotine’, coming down ‘millimetres from his face’ at a speed of just 1.6 seconds, pinning his pelvis to the floor.
Now the Disney-owned British production company Foodles, who evidently were responsible for safety on the set, have been heavily fined by The Health and Safety Executive (HSE).. The company said they "deeply regretted" the accident but were fined a huge $2 million.
Ford is currently shooting the Blade Runner sequel. Thank f**k he's OK.
