The title and initial details for 'The King's Man' have emerged.
'The King's Man' is a prequel to the 'Kingsman' film series. Instalments so far have included 2014's 'The Secret Service' and 2017's 'The Golden Circle'.
Based on a popular comic series, the films see Eggsy (Taron Egerton) recruited to work for the titular British agency.
The series made a star of Egerton, now earning huge acclaim for his role as Elton John in 'Rocketman'.
Colin Firth plays Harry Hart, a Kingsman and Eggsy's late father's colleague.
Both actors, however, will be taking a break from the next film. After all, it's a prequel set before the events of 'Secret Service'.
An impressive cast has been lined up. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Charles Dance, Matthew Goode, Gemma Arterton, Djimon Hounsou, Daniel Brühl, Stanley Tucci and Tom Hollander will all star.
Set in the early 1900s, the synopsis reads:
"As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency in 'The King’s Man'…"
Matthew Vaughn, who has helmed all the 'Kingsman' films so far, returns to write and direct. His regular collaborator Jane Goodman is also back.
'The King's Man' hit cinemas on 14 February, 2020, so it's a good one for date night.
After that, if you can't get enough of 'Kingsman', you'll be happy to hear that a spin-off following the 'Stateman' (introduced in 'Golden Circle') and two more sequels - which Egerton is back for while Firth is yet to be confirmed - are arriving in the coming years.
