H.R. Giger, the man who designed the Alien for Ridley Scott’s 1978 science fiction classic, Alien, has died aged 74.
Giger’s staggeringly innovative work was inspired by night terrors he had; with the iconic Alien image easily one of the most recognisable onscreen creatures ever created.
He also directed a series of short documentaries and worked on both of the Species films as part of the design team.
His death was reportedly due to injuries suffered from a fall.
