David Mamet is to write and direct a new film based on the life of famed diarist, Anne Frank. The writer of such classics as Glengarry Glen Ross and The Untouchables, will chronicle the tragic life of Frank, who died in a Bergen-Belsen concentration camp aged 15. According to Variety, Disney are funding the project, which is heavily in pre-production. Mamet is also a prolific stage writer, while he also served as creator and producer on the army drama, The Unit.
