David Fincher and Rooney Mara are looking to reteam on another novel adaptation, having previously worked together in the English language version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
According to THR, neither party has signed on yet, but are circling Red Sparrow, which centres on a Russian Spy (possibly Mara) who plays a cat and mouse game with a CIA Agent. The book, by Jason Matthews, is being adapted by American Hustle writer Eric Warren Singer.
Fincher, who has Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck, due for release in the Autumn, recently pulled out of negotiations to direct the Steve Jobs biopic that would've seen him reunited with Social Network writer, Aaron Sorkin. That helming gig looks to have gone to Slumdog Millionaire shooter Danny Boyle.
Mara also popped up in The Social Network, so if this goes ahead it would be her third time working with Fincher.
