Rush Limbaugh, controversial US radio host, has accused The Dark Knight Rises of being a political conspiracy against the Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Limbaugh is proposing that the Batman’s nemesis Bane, played by Tom Hardy, is a dig at the presidential candidate and the investment firm Bain capital which Romney used to be CEO of. Mitt Romney has come under fire recently from the Democrats and Obama’s administration for his time as CEO of Bain Capital.

Limbaugh is convinced that the name of the Batman villain Bane and the date of the release is no coincidence despite the character being established in the Batworld since 1993. Speaking on his radio show on Tuesday morning Limbaugh said, “Do you think it is accidental that the name of the really vicious fire-breathing, four-eyed whatever-it-is villain in this movie is named Bane?"

Limbaugh goes on to call the Batman fans brain dead and then makes the link ‘A lot of people are going to see the movie. And it's a lot of brain-dead people, entertainment, the pop culture crowd, and they're going to hear Bane in the movie and they're going to associate Bain.

‘And the thought is that when they're going to start paying attention to the campaign later in the year and Obama and the Democrats keep talking about Bain, not Bain Capitol but Romney and Bain, that these people will start thinking back to the Batman movies - 'Oh yeah, I know who that is!'’

Chuck Dixon, creator of the Bane character has since spoke out against the claims to dismiss them calling them ‘silly’. Speaking to the Schnitt Show Dixon said ‘Bane was created by me and Graham Nolan and we are lifelong conservatives and as far from left-wing mouthpieces as you are likely to find in comics.’
