Daniel Craig is due to turn in his last every performance as James Bond, aka 007, in 'No Time to Die'. It is a role he has played across five movies spanning fifteen years. Some say he's the best Bond yet.
But it's worth remembering that the talents of Daniel Craig aren't limited to playing the world's most renowned super spy. After all he'd plenty of credits leading up to the highly coveted gig; and in between Bond movies, he's taken on some really interesting credits.
Craig is not only an excellent dramatic actor and action star. He's also proven to have a knack for comedy. Thus, as he sets down the martini glass and abandons the gadgets, we're sure there'll be more to come from the English actor.
Knives Out
'Knives Out' ended up being a sleeper hit a couple of years back. Mind you, with Rian Johnson behind it and that exquisite cast (Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Chris Evans and more play alongside Craig), we should've expected it to be as wonderful as it is. The film sees the Bond actor play Benoit Blanc, a detective who investigates the suspicious death of the patriarch of a bonkers family. Reports have it that Craig will return as Blanc in a sequel, examining a new case.
Logan Lucky
We mentioned before how Daniel Craig has comedic chops and 'Logan Lucky' most definitely shows that off. The flick primarily follows two brothers, played by Adam Driver and Channing Tatum, attempting to pull off a heist during a NASCAR race in North Carolina. Craig's character is Joe Bang, a fast-talking, scheming felon who helps the brothers in their plan.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' was one of those rare examples where the American remake stood up to the original. It helps that David Fincher was the director. Craig plays journalist Mikael Blomkvist with a subtle intensity while Rooney Mara comes to the fore as Lisbeth Salander, a young woman out for revenge.
Defiance
Craig turned in another striking performance in the war movie 'Defiance', directed by Ed Zwick (best-known for 'The Last Samurai' and 'Blood Diamond'). The war movie follows two Polish Jewish brothers (Liev Schreiber playing the other) as they fight for survival and seek vengeance against the Nazis who killed their parents and people. As harrowing as it is gripping.
Munich
Another feature Daniel Craig stars in where emotions run incredibly high is 'Munich' from Steven Spielberg. He plays one of five men assigned the grueling task of assassinating those responsible for the the Munich massacre at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Craig takes second billing as Steve, a South African driver, while Eric Bana leads the cast.
Layer Cake
Many attribute gangster movie 'Layer Cake' with landing Craig the James Bond gig. It has strong Guy Ritchie vibes and marked a solid debut for Matthew Vaughn. (He'd go on to direct 'Stardust', 'X-Men: First Class' and the 'Kingsman' series.) Craig had a major sense of presence and attitude as the unnamed lead. It was with a big bang that his career really kicked off.
