Mulder and Scully want to believe - in a new X-Files movie. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were reunited at the New York Comic Con to mark 20 years of the iconic television series and were open about their hopes for a third installment.

At a panel discussion for fans, Duchovny got them all excited saying that, "All the principals are on board. Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to Twentieth Century Fox at this point."

Clearly knowing her audience, Anderson added, "If it takes fan encouragement to get Fox interested in that then I guess that's what it would be."

It's weird to think that Mulder and Scully first hit our screens two full decades ago. It lasted for nine seasons and spawned two feature films. The films received mixed reactions (to put it nicely) but X-Files fans are sure to want more.

While I would love to see a live-action version of The Simpsons episode 'The Springfield Files' it seems that Chris Carter, the creator of the series, is not looking for plot suggestions. He supports the making of a third movie and has previously mentioned that if it were to go ahead it would cover the December 22 2012 colonisation date referred to in the series.

What do you think? Should a third X-Files be made? Leave your comments below.
