Chris Weitz has been confirmed as the man who will direct the Twilight sequel New Moon. As already mentioned by a couple of talk-backers (thanks Rose), Weitz has been announced as the man who will take over the fledging blockbuster franchise for the next instalment at least, while many rumours still surround the exiting of Catherine Hardwicke from the project. Weitz most recently directed The Golden Compass, but has previously done brilliant work on both American Pie and the hugely underrated About A Boy, and is a solid, if surprising choice to take over the megaphone. Production is slated to start in The Spring, with a budget of about $50 million - not exactly a lot for him to play around with given the scale of the book.
