"Amazing first look at 'Super Mario Brothers'. This is going to be epic."
Chris Pratt has shared a rather tongue-in-cheek first look of himself as Super Mario in the upcoming animation from Nintendo.
Everyone's favourite video game plumber is getting his first animation movie from Illumination Entertainment, the studio behind the 'Despicable Me' movies as well as 'The Secret Life of Pets' and 'Sing'.
And now we have our first look - sort of - of what the Italian plumber will look like on the big screen.
Pratt shared a clip of himself from the climax of the first of Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movies, in which he plays the character of Star-Lord. However, the video has been altered ever-so-slightly, to include a reference to the video game character.
In the video which Chris Pratt posted on Instagram, he has placed Super Mario's trademark hat, moustache and nose onto his Marvel character, as he reaches for the Power Stone a Star. Of course, everyone knows once Mario gets a Star in the video game franchise, he becomes invincible for a certain amount of time - so in fairness to the Pratt's video, it's quite a hilariously accurate crossover we never thought we would ever see.
Also included in the video is Zoe Saldana's Gamora, who is dressed up as the character of Toad, and its all topped off by the 'Star Theme' song from Nintendo playing after Star-Lord/Mario obtains the all-powerful special ability.
Joining Chris Pratt in 'Super Mario Brothers' are Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong. Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, and Sebastian Maniscalco as the voice of Foreman Spike. Charles Martinet, the original voice of Mario, will also make an appearance.
'Super Mario Brothers' will hit cinemas next Christmas on December 21, 2022.
