Much is being made by some of the online movie press this morning about Chris Nolan's "departure" from the new Superman movie.

The folks at the marvellous website, Hitfix.com, broke the news that Nolan would be scaling back his involvement with the film to concentrate on directing The Dark Knight Rises - which is due to shoot this Spring. Zack Snyder was announced as the man that would be bringing Superman back to life, with Nolan and his Dark Knight co-scripter David Goyer working on the script together. It seems, though, that the talented British helmer will remain on board as producer, as generally, producers will do the majority of their work in pre-production then hand it over to a helmer. Of course, every film is different, but Nolan has seemingly earn his dough on this one.

Point is, he hasn't REALLY left the film. He helped hire a top drawer director in Snyder and he's letting him get on with it - like any good producer should.
