With Avengers: Infinity War and the as yet untitled Avengers 4 signalling the end of phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Captain Marvel and Ant-Man and the Wasp will be released in between), we could be seeing the end of a lot of our favourite heroes.
Back in January, Chris Hemsworth indicated that his character Thor is pretty much finished after Avengers 4, saying: “Contractually, right now — yeah, this is it. I’m done. I won’t be playing the character again.”
Now it looks like Chris Evans and his character Captain America won’t be returning after Avengers: Infinity War’s sequel either.
Having shot the two Avengers movies back to back, the latter for which there are planned reshoots in autumn, he told the New York Times that he has no plans to return to the franchise, saying “You want to get off the train before they push you off.”
In the interview he also debuted a new moustache that would make Tom Selleck cinge.
It’s been heavily indicated that not all the superheroes are going to survive the epic two-part clash with the villainous Thanos (Josh Brolin) but whether the characters will die or simply be retired has yet to be seen.
