On the eve of her 75th birthday, Cher announced that she will be getting her own biopic movie at Universal Pictures.
With this talent attached, consider us very excited for this Cher biopic movie. According to the birthday woman herself, there's a biopic in the works.
The producers of 'Mamma Mia!' Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman are on board to produce the movie. Eric Roth, who wrote the screenplays of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's 'A Star is Born', 'Forrest Gump' with Tom Hanks, and the upcoming 'Dune' with Timothée Chalamet, is attached to write the script.
Cher tweeted the news IN ALL CAPS to grab our attention.
According to Variety, Cher will also produce the untitled project. The star previously worked with Craymer and Goetzman on the sequel 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' in 2018.
No further details of the Cher biopic have been released, including who the creators might have in mind to play the titular icon. Or perhaps we'll have many different versions of Cher through the ages - we'll have to sit tight on this one. Expect more details to come from Cher's Twitter account in the near future.
Cher has had quite the career and personal journey over the past 75 years. She's been in the music business for six decades and is one of the few people to have achieved three out of four awards which would earn her an EGOT status (she has yet to win a Tony award).
According to reports last year, there may be a third 'Mamma Mia!' movie on the way in the future.
