Channing Tatum has revealed that he has cut ties with The Weinstein Company despite having a film in development with the studio.
Tatum and his production partner Reid Carolin had planned to adapt Matthew Quick's 2013 novel 'I Love You, Leonard Peacock' - about a teenager who plans to shoot himself and his best friend on his 17th birthday after suffering sexual abuse - in conjunction with the Weinsteins, but following recent revelations they have pulled the plug on the partnership. The film was set to be Tatum's directorial debut.
They released a joint statement sharing the news and also commending the 'brave women who had the courage to stand up and speak their truth about Harvey Weinstein', calling them 'true heroes'.
'This is a giant opportunity for real positive change that we proudly commit ourselves to" it read, noting the correlation between the book's plot and Weinstein's abuse of power over the years.
