Following the passing of screen icon Burt Reynolds on Thursday, Variety has now confirmed that the actor had not yet begun filming on Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' and will likely be recast.
Reynolds was set to play George Spahn, an almost-blind ranch owner whose land was previously used as sets for Westerns in the '50s and was renting it to Charles Manson and his followers at the time of the Tate murders. According to Variety's report, Reynolds wasn't due to begin filming until the end of the month and no recasting has been currently announced for the role.
The statement put out concerning Reynolds' passing by his niece, Nancy Lee Hess, specifically referenced Tarantino, saying that Reynolds was "looking forward to working with Quentin Tarantino, and the amazing cast that was assembled."
The movie's cast is expansive, and includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Timothy Olyphant, Al Pacino, Zoe Bell, Dakota Fanning, Kurt Russell, Damian Lewis, James Marsden, Tim Roth and Damon Herriman, who'll be playing Charles Manson in this and in the upcoming season of Netflix's 'Mindhunter'.
'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' arrives in Irish cinemas on July 26th, 2019.
