The first official trailer for ‘Captain Marvel’, starring Oscar winner Brie Larson in the titular role, dropped earlier this week and there have already been complaints about her portrayal of the character (despite the trailer being less than 2 minutes long, and no one having seen the actual movie yet…).
A number of ‘fans’ took to Twitter after the trailer dropped to complain that Larson was not exhibiting enough facial expressions in the trailer. Some even said she needed to ‘smile more,’ with one Twitter user going so far as to photoshop a smile onto her face using screenshots from the trailer.
Is Brie Larson capable of any other facial expression other than this one? That face - talk about a piece of wood. #FirstImpressions #CaptainMarvel pic.twitter.com/bLkPMjaEP2

Larson however is not having it, and hit back at the haters by similarly photoshopping posters for “Iron Man 3,” “Doctor Strange,” and “Captain America” featuring the male superheroes smiling.

Fans were quick to agree with her.
I saw some dude use an app to make Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel smile more, so I thought I’d do the same with the male Marvel superheroes.
I think we can all agree that this is a totally normal, non-creepy thing to do. pic.twitter.com/jLONpjGQch

I agree, Captain Marvel needs to smile more, so she fits in with the rest of the universe pic.twitter.com/CAJ7MzUOxK

When ‘Captain Marvel’ hits theatres on March 8th 2019, the movie will be the first (long overdue) solo female superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film co-stars Jude Law and has been described as ‘an action-comedy.’
Captain Marvel is also said to be playing a major role in the currently untitled ‘Avengers 4’ movie which will follow the events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’
