The world will end on July 3rd 2015. Lol JK, not the real world (on that note, weren't those Mayans full of shit?), just the world of Independence Day, which, perhaps, many of you super-fans will probably take as seriously as the real world. Anyhoo.
Roland Emmerich directed the first movie, but we're still waiting to find out if he's 100% on board with the sequel which he sees as the beginning of a brand new franchise. God knows the cinema could do with yet another franchise, amirite?
As per Deadline, Fox have confirmed this release date. Independence Day 2 will open 19 years and one day exactly after the first installment took over our cinemas (1996), launching the world renowned career of superstar, Will Smith. Sad thing is, though, Will Smith will not be returning. We've still got oul Bill Pullman to look forward to all the same. And the events of the sequel will take place 20 years after those of the first movie, with those pesky aliens giving the whole 'taking over the planet' idea another whack. Will they succeed? Hell to the N-O.
