Actor Charles Grodin has passed away at the age of 86 from bone marrow cancer.
Charles Grodin was known for his roles in such movies as 'Midnight Run', 'The Heartbreak Kid' and 'Heaven Can Wait'.
He played the put-upon father in the family movie 'Beethoven' and its sequel, 'Beethoven's 2nd'.
The actor's son, Nicholas Grodin, told The Associated Press that his father died at his home in Wilton, Connecticut.
Charles Grodin was renowned for his droll, offbeat style of acting and deadpan delivery, particularly in comedy.
The actor also starred in 'Dave,' 'The Woman in Red,' 'So I Married an Axe Murderer,' 'Catch-22,' 'The Great Muppet Caper,' and 'Rosemary’s Baby'.
Grodin also appeared on Broadway, most notably starring in the long-running 'Same Time, Next Year' opposite Ellen Burstyn in the 1970s.
He served as a host on 'SNL'.
Grodin was also a writer, a frequent commentator on radio and TV, and had his own talk show for a time during the 1990s.
